Believe it or not, two boats of the same builder and model, even built the same year, may have significantly different specs for certain types of gear.
Trust us on this -- we have learned it the hard way.
Dimensions and specs change because...
- Builders switch rigs, deck gear, and other components without notice, at any time during the production run
- Fiberglass molds are retired every dozen boats or so... subsequent molds often have small changes in the cockpit, companionway, berths, ports/hatches, anchor well, etc.
- You, a prior owner, or a dealer/broker may have made modifications to the boat
- Specs for some gear are effected by other gear, i.e., sail covers dimensions depend on the age and material of your main sail
The median sizes are usually close enough to provide pricing... but sometimes they're not accurate to ensure a proper fit. Fit comes from measurements unique to your boat.
Upon order, we always provide simple, clear, and well documented measuring instructions (for some products we send out templating kits), plus online submission so they get to us quickly.
